The Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks (VSKB) supports the 24 cantonal banks in Switzerland with brand campaigns as well as on a political and media levels. We were commissioned to redesign their two websites www.kantonalbank.ch and www.vskb.ch, optimise them in a user-centric way and develop them using the Craft Content Management System. By managing both websites in the same CMS, content creation was modernised, synergies were created in content management and efficiency goals were achieved.
We redesigned the brand websites kantonalbank.ch and vskb.ch and migrated the content to a new content management system (Craft CMS). The new websites are packed with various practical, customised features and are particularly user-friendly thanks to user-centred development.
The prominent internet address kantonalbank.ch serves a heterogeneous audience and is a
central touchpoint for the Kantonalbank brand. The audience ranges from bank customers, authorities and media professionals to politicians. These different users did not immediately find the content provided for them. Content maintenance was time-consuming and cost-intensive. In addition, there was an increasing number of learnings that needed to be improved since the last website launch. The client therefore decided to relaunch the website to coincide with the launch of the
umbrella brand's new national advertising campaign.
We started with several analysis steps to understand the situation and lay a solid foundation. Any uncertain hypotheses were optionally confirmed or refuted by means of qualitative interviews with users. Personas were defined.
Based on the results of the analysis, we worked with the client in a participatory process to develop a detailed concept including specifications. This took place in several iterations, in which the elaboration was refined from abstract to concrete. In this way, we developed important elements step by step: from the information architecture to skeletons to wireframes - and then, building on this, the interaction and visual design.
An interdisciplinary team of front-end and back-end specialists developed the two websites.
A system is only as good as its maintenance and upkeep. Since the launch, the customer has continuously invested in the further development of their platforms. And, of course, we also support them in all the next steps.
YOO's user-centred approach to implementing the new solutions impressed us. This not only took into account the users of our online channels, but also the internal content creation processes.

Head of Media and PR - Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks
By splitting the original website into the umbrella brand website (kantonalbank.ch) and the association website (vskb.ch), we were able to develop a customised solution for the respective target groups and stakeholders. Customers who land on the brand website through the umbrella brand campaign are guided to the content they are looking for or to their respective banking institutions in an uncomplicated and friendly way thanks to the processing of user journeys. The brand messages are conveyed quickly and effectively and help to engage visitors.
The new websites of www.kantonalbank.ch and vskb.ch are available in three languages and are harmonised to convey a coherent brand message and provide users with relevant content.
In 1907, the cantonal banks joined forces to form the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks (VSKB). The VSKB represents the common interests of its members, promotes their cooperation and helps to strengthen the position of the cantonal banks in Switzerland. The association develops the umbrella brand communication and operates the digital touchpoint www.kantonalbank.ch.
